At Waterloo Primary School, we understand how important reliable, high-quality childcare is for working families. Our school-run wraparound provision offers children a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment before and after the school day.

Our Breakfast Club and After-School Club are led by familiar members of the Waterloo team, many of whom also work with the children during the school day. Children are therefore cared for by adults they know and trust.

Both provisions take place in the Main School Hall - parents/carers should use the small entrance gate for drop off and collections.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club gives children a calm, positive start to their day. Children can enjoy a healthy breakfast, spend time with their friends and take part in a selection of quiet and active activities before lessons begin.

Breakfast choices may include:

• a selection of cereals;
• toast with a choice of toppings;
• fruit; and
• milk, water or fruit juice.

Children can choose from activities such as drawing and craft, construction, toys, board games, reading and outdoor play. At the end of the session, younger children are escorted to their classrooms and all children are supported to begin the school day safely and punctually.

After-School Club

Our After-School Club provides a relaxed and friendly environment at the end of the school day. Children from different year groups can play, socialise and take part in activities together.

The activities available may include:

• arts, crafts and creative activities;
• construction, toys and imaginative play;
• board games and quiet activities;
• reading and homework;
• football, basketball and other outdoor games; and
• use of the school’s outdoor play equipment.

Children attending After-School Club are offered a drink and a light snack. This is not intended to replace their evening meal.

Inclusion and additional needs

Our wraparound care is intended to be inclusive. Children from our mainstream classes and specialist provision are welcome to use the service, subject to availability and an assessment of whether the setting can safely meet their individual needs.

Where a child has a special educational need, disability, medical condition, allergy or personal-care requirement, we will work with parents and carers to consider the support or reasonable adjustments needed. Relevant information and agreed plans must be shared with the wraparound team before the child’s first session.

Allergies and dietary requirements

Vegetarian diets, allergies, food intolerances and other dietary requirements can be accommodated wherever reasonably possible.

Parents and carers must provide the school with complete and current information about:

• allergies and intolerances;
• medical conditions;
• dietary requirements;
• prescribed medication; and
• emergency action plans.

Please do not assume that information held by a child’s class team has automatically been transferred to the wraparound provision. Speak directly to the school office when registering or updating your child’s details.

Booking a place

Before using the provision for the first time, parents and carers must complete a registration and booking form.

Sessions should be booked through ParentPay. Same-day bookings must currently be made by 2.30pm, although places cannot be guaranteed and remain subject to staffing and capacity.

Fees and payments

Fees must be paid in advance and may be paid weekly, monthly or termly.

Payments should be made through ParentPay. Cash payments cannot be accepted in school.

We also accept most registered childcare voucher schemes and the Government’s Tax-Free Childcare scheme. Please contact the school office for the information needed to arrange payment through one of these schemes.

Families should ensure that their account remains up to date. Continued access to the provision may be affected where fees remain unpaid, in accordance with the school or trust’s debt-management arrangements.

Collection from After-School Club

Children must be collected by an authorised adult no later than the end of their booked session.

If somebody different will collect your child, parents or carers must inform the club in advance. Staff will not release a child to an unknown or unauthorised person.

A late charge may be applied where:

• a child is not collected at the end of the school day and has to be taken into After-School Club; or
• a child is collected after the end of their booked session.

Repeated late collection may result in the child’s place being reviewed.

Keeping information up to date

It is essential that we hold current contact and emergency-contact details for every child using wraparound care. Please tell the school immediately if there is any change to:

• telephone numbers or addresses;
• authorised collection arrangements;
• emergency contacts;
• medical conditions or medication;
• allergies or dietary requirements; or
• any other information affecting your child’s care.
